Tata Motors has seen significant growth in the passenger vehicle segment. Now with the launch of its iconic Safari, Shailesh Chandra, President-Passenger Vehicle Business of the auto company, said that the company expected demand to not only sustain, but grow.

He spoke about the supply side constraints and high raw material costs. In an interview to CNBC-TV18, he said, "There is definitely an issue as far as the supply side is concerned because of the semiconductor issue which has hit the auto industry globally. This is going to remain a challenge for next 4-5 months and we are trying to somehow manage the supply chain and avoiding any loss in the supply."

On Safari launch, Chandra said, "This should help us grow our volumes from where it is and in this calendar year we are also going to launch the Hornbill. So definitely this is going to not only sustain but I am confident it's going to grow from where we are today."

Chandra, however, said the demand trend for electric vehicles (EVs) has reversed this year. The 90 percent of demand is now from personal segment because of Nexon EV.
