Here's good news for Maharashtra government employees! The state has announced 5-day work week for its employees. The new rule will be applicable from February 29. The working hours will now be 9:45 am to 6:15 pm.
However, employees must work 45 minutes extra during the weekdays. Government schools and colleges, hospitals, police and fire brigade employees are excluded from this rule.
There are over 20 lakh government employees in Maharashtra. The central government, government of Rajasthan, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal already have five day work week in place.
